Taking care of our mental health encompasses so many things, not just emotions and thoughts. There are a million-and-one ways to care for ourselves, and Mind Body Soul Therapy focuses on three:
The mind refers to thoughts, emotions, beliefs, self-assessment, and neurology. Taking care of our minds can look like learning about ourselves, our experiences, and our beliefs. In session, it often looks like sharing of new information and processing the old information.
The body holds onto memories, feelings, and experiences, and is often an overlooked part of the healing process. Increasing safety within the body allows us to feel our emotions somatically, and helps the brain to process traumas and stress.
When we are engaged in creativity, connection, and intuition, our souls are being taken care of. For some, this means religion or spirituality, for others this could look like creating art or being with nature, or being active in community.
